HistoryDocumented history
Lachhuar is the base for the climb to Kshatriyakund in the hills to the south, where shrines mark Mahavira's birth, initiation and other events of his life. The large dharamshala was built by the wealthy Jain banker family of Murshidabad. The Lachhuar Mahotsav is held by the state government.
