A Shiva temple in the low wetlands of south-east Darbhanga district that gives the town and block their name. It draws large crowds in Shravan, and the wetlands around it are a bird sanctuary.
HistoryDocumented history
The temple lies in a flood-prone area of north Bihar where the Kosi and Kamla rivers spread out each monsoon. It is one of the most visited Shiva temples of the Mithila region, and many families perform the first-haircut and sacred-thread rites here.
