HistoryDocumented history
The temple stands on a small hill reached by a flight of steps. It is usually dated to the late Kakatiya period. Its outer walls carry dense carving, much of it unfinished, which suggests work stopped before it was complete, perhaps in the troubled years after the fall of Warangal.
ArchitectureDocumented history
The temple is built of black basalt in the Kakatiya style, on a high base. Its outer walls are carved with gods, dancers, musicians, animals and couples, and its hall has finely turned pillars. Some panels are only roughed out, showing that the carving was never finished.

Documented history
Documented history
Tradition and folklore
Interpretation
