A Shiva temple north-east of Kumbakonam that is the Navagraha shrine of Shukra (Venus). Unusually, Shukra is worshipped through Shiva himself here rather than in a separate image. It is a Paadal Petra Sthalam.

The temple is said to be where Agni, the fire god, worshipped Shiva, giving the name Agniswarar. It is also linked with the Shaiva scholar Haradatta Shivacharya, said to have been born in Kanjanur.
