A temple of the goddess Tara, one of the ten Mahavidyas, beside a cremation ground in Birbhum. It is famous as a seat of tantric practice and for the 19th-century saint Bamakhepa. Some traditions count it a Shakti Peetha.

The cremation ground beside the temple is a centre of tantric sadhana. Bamakhepa, the 'mad saint', worshipped Tara as his mother and broke temple rules in his love for her; his samadhi is nearby. The hidden stone image shows Tara nursing Shiva after he drank poison.

When Shiva drank the poison from the churning of the ocean, Tara took him on her lap and nursed him to remove its burning.
