The temple stands in a wooded compound with monkeys in the trees. Its Mahants are an old family of priests, and one of them, the engineer Veer Bhadra Mishra, led the Sankat Mochan Foundation's campaign to clean the Ganga. The Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroh brings leading musicians and dancers to perform for Hanuman.
