Aitihyas and storiesTradition and folklore
Avvaiyar, resting under a jamun tree, met a boy who asked if she wanted 'hot' or 'cold' fruit. Puzzled, she asked for hot fruit, and he shook down jamuns that fell in the dust; she blew on them to clean them, and the boy laughed that they were too hot. She realised the boy was Murugan, teaching her humility.
