The temple holds a huge seated image of Krishna, more than 7 m high, as he appeared at the Kaurava court. It is sung by four Alvars.
Sthala PuranaTradition
Krishna went to Hastinapura as the Pandavas' envoy to seek peace. Duryodhana had a pit dug under his seat, hidden by a carpet, to trap and kill him. Krishna grew to an enormous size and showed his cosmic form, and the court fell silent.
