A small 10th-century Shiva temple of the Somavamshi period, known as the 'gem of Odishan architecture' for its carving and its free-standing arched gateway (torana). It marks the change from the early to the mature Kalinga style.

The temple stands in a low walled court with a tank to the east. Its torana, with figures of reclining women on its arch, is one of the finest pieces of sculpture in Odisha. The hall has the first true pyramidal roof in Bhubaneswar, and the ceiling carries an eight-petalled lotus.
