A Shiva temple in Puri whose linga stays under water fed by a spring all year. Once a year, before Shivaratri, the water is drained so that pilgrims can see the linga.

Lokanath is counted among the guardian Shivas of Puri around the Jagannath temple. The yearly draining of the water, Pankoddhar Ekadashi, comes three days before Shivaratri. Lokanath also takes part in some of Jagannath's festivals.

Rama, on his way to Lanka, is said to have installed the linga here. The local people offered him a pumpkin (lau), and the linga is sometimes said to be shaped like one, which gave it the name Lau-nath, later Lokanath.
