A 42-foot monolithic statue of Bahubali on a rock hill at Karkala, installed in 1432. It is the second tallest such statue in Karnataka after Shravanabelagola.

The statue stands on a rocky hill reached by steps. Bahubali stands with creepers growing up his legs, showing the long meditation in which he stood unmoving. A head-anointing ceremony (mahamastakabhisheka) is held every twelve years. The Chaturmukha Basadi stands on a nearby hill.

ಮೂರ್ತಿ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲುಗಳಿಂದ ತಲುಪುವ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತಿದೆ. ಬಾಹುಬಲಿಯ ಕಾಲುಗಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಳ್ಳಿಗಳು ಹಬ್ಬಿವೆ, ಅವನು ಅಚಲನಾಗಿ ನಿಂತ ದೀರ್ಘ ಧ್ಯಾನವನ್ನು ತೋರಿಸುತ್ತವೆ. ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೊಮ್ಮೆ ಮಹಾಮಸ್ತಕಾಭಿಷೇಕ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತದೆ. ಹತ್ತಿರದ ಬೆಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಚತುರ್ಮುಖ ಬಸದಿಯಿದೆ.
