A goddess temple at Shiroda in Ponda taluka, home of the goddess Kamakshi. Her image is said to have been carried here from Raia in Salcete in the 16th century, when the Portuguese were destroying temples in the lands they ruled.

Ponda taluka, then outside Portuguese rule, became a refuge for the deities of Salcete and Tiswadi. Kamakshi's temple at Shiroda has the usual Goan plan: a dome over the sanctum, a large pillared hall, and a deepastambha (lamp tower) in the courtyard. Shrines of Raiyeshwar (Shiva) and Lakshmi-Narayan stand with her.
