A Shakti Peetha at Kshirgram where Sati's right big toe is said to have fallen. The image of the goddess Jogadya is kept under the water of a pond and brought out only on a few days of the year.

HistoryDocumented history

The image of Jogadya, shown slaying the buffalo demon, stays under the water of the Kshirdighi pond most of the year and is raised for worship on a few fixed days, especially around Baishakh Sankranti. The old image was lost for a long time and a new one was made; the old one is said to have been found later during work on the pond.

Sthala PuranaTradition

Sati's body was cut apart by Vishnu's discus as Shiva carried it in grief, and the places where the pieces fell became the Shakti Peethas, each guarded by a form of Shiva as Bhairava. Here her right big toe fell.
