The temple stands beside a pond on the edge of Labhpur, among trees. Some lists place the same Peetha at Attahas in Purba Bardhaman.

Sati's body was cut apart by Vishnu's discus as Shiva carried it in grief, and the places where the pieces fell became the Shakti Peethas, each guarded by a form of Shiva as Bhairava. Here the lips fell.
