A Chandela temple of the Western group at Khajuraho, built about 1000-1025 and probably first dedicated to Vishnu. It now holds an image of the goddess worshipped as Jagadambi, and its walls carry some of Khajuraho's finest sculpture.

The temple has a simpler plan than its neighbour Kandariya Mahadeva, without an outer walkway, but three bands of sculpture run round its walls, with gods, celestial women and couples. A Vishnu figure over the sanctum door suggests the first dedication, before a goddess image was installed.
