The temple of Budhi Thakurani, 'the old mother goddess', protector of Berhampur. Her Thakurani Yatra, held every two years in Chaitra, fills the city with weeks of processions, music and folk dance.

During the yatra the goddess moves from the temple to a temporary home (the Desibehera's house) and returns weeks later. Streets are decorated, and people perform traditional dances such as the tiger dance and the danda nacha.
