The ruins of a Vishnu temple built by the Utpala king Avantivarman, founder of Avantipura, in the 9th century. Its colonnaded court and carved gateway are among the finest remains of Kashmiri temple art.

The temple stood in a large court with a colonnade of cells, entered by a gateway carved with river goddesses and royal figures. A nearby Shiva temple, Avantishvara, was built by the same king. The ruins were buried in silt until excavated.
